Install the Camera System

Danger

Use extreme caution while working on the cab roof. Surfaces on the roof may be uneven or slippery and hardware and harnesses may present tripping hazards. Contact a local equipment dealer for additional information or assistance with working on the roof of specific make and model machine.

Mount Cameras to the Tractor Roof

Note:  During the installation process, note the serial number and bar code of the following devices and the machine on which each device is installed:

  • Slingshot®Field Hub
  • RS Lite

This information will be required during device registration and field provisioning procedures and will help locate each device within the Slingshot® portal.

Note:  Please allow up to 4 business days to activate the Field Hub. Once activation has been completed, a confirmation email will be sent to the customer and an OTAClosed (Over the Air) Software updates and other information pushed from Slingshot® servers via the Slingshot® system. software update will be pushed to the Field Hub the next time the device powers up. It may be recommended to complete and submit the OLAFClosed Online Activation Form procedures for the Field Hub on all OMNiDRIVE™ machines. Refer to the following for additional assistance:

Forward Facing Cameras

  1. Use the supplied screws to secure the forward facing (57°) camera (P/N 063-2610-016) to the forward facing front camera bracket (P/N 107-2610-030).

    Note:  Mount all cameras so that the coaxial port faces toward the ground. The forward facing camera is marked with "57" on the camera housing. The remaining cameras are marked with "112" on the housing.

  2. Secure one of the downward facing (112°) cameras (P/N 063-2610-010) to the downward facing bracket (P/N 107-2610-031).
  3. Use the supplied 2" spacers (P/N 104-1000-279) and bolts to secure the forward facing camera brackets and StarFire™ receiver base plate to the roof as shown in the image above.
  4. Secure the remaining 112° cameras to the side camera brackets (P/N 116-2610-003) and rear camera bracket (P/N 116-2610-004).

    Note:  During the installation process, note the serial number and bar code of the following devices and the machine on which each device is installed:

    • Slingshot®Field Hub
    • RS Lite
    • Perception Controller

Once activation has been completed, a confirmation email will be sent to the customer and an OTA software update will be pushed to the Field Hub the next time the device powers up. It may be recommended to complete and submit the OLAF procedures for the Field Hub on all OMNiDRIVE™ machines. Refer to the following for additional assistance:

  5. Use the provided hardware to secure the RS Lite (P/N 063-0174-121) to the rear camera bracket.
  6. Remove the existing roof bolts at the rear of the cab.

    Note:  These bolts will not be used with the OMNiDRIVE™ system.

  7. Use the supplied bolts to secure the rear camera bracket (with the RS Lite and camera) at the rear of the tractor cab with the rear camera facing down toward the tractor hitch.

  8. Remove the existing roof bolt on the left or right side of the cab.
  9. Place the bracket over the hole in the cab roof and secure with the supplied bolt.
  10. Repeat for the other side.
  11. Once all the camera brackets are mounted to the roof, insert the bracket clamp into the left, right, and rear camera brackets to secure them in place.

    Note:  Do not over tighten the clamp.

Connect Cameras to the Perception Controller

  1. Connect camera cables to each of the cameras:

    • Connect 20' [6 m] cables (P/N 115-2610-033) to cameras 1, 2, and 5 as shown above.

    • Connect 15' [4.5 m] cables (P/N 115-2610-032) to cameras 3 and 4.

    Note:  To ensure the cameras are properly connected to the Perception Controller, use the supplied labels to mark both ends of each cable.

  2. Route the camera cables to the right, rear corner of the roof and down the post to the pass-through located in the lower, right corner of the rear cab window.
  3. Route the camera cables to the device plate and connect the numbered camera cables to the Perception Controller as shown in the image below.

  4. Place the supplied AprilTagClosed A specific system of fiducial markers used in robotics with visual or perception systems. OMNiDRIVE™ utilizes an AprilTag marker on the hood of the tractor with the Perception Controller. bracket (P/N 063-2610-020) on the hood of the tractor as shown in the picture below. Ensure the AprilTag code is visible to the cameras at the front of the cab.

  5. Proceed to the Install the Flood Lighting System topic to proceed with the OMNiDRIVE™ system installation.
