Configure a Serial Console in CRX

Data logging must be enabled on the serial console for CRX to detect it. Data logging is typically found in the Data Menu option of the serial console. The Trigger Value and Trigger units must be set before operation. Refer to the documentation of the specific serial console for more information.

Note:  The serial console must be powered on before the CRX device.

Detect a Serial Console

If data logging has been enabled and the serial console is still not detected:

  1. Select Settings on the bottom left of the Home screen. The Settings Menu will open.
  2. Select Serial Port on the Settings menu.
  3. Select the Port B tab to open the Serial Ports - Port B screen. CRX should auto-detect the serial console and list the console under the Device/Device Type field.
  4. If CRX does not auto-detect the serial console, check the data logging settings of the serial console. It is possible that a null modem cable is required between the CRX device and the serial console. The cable would be connected to Port B or the Serial Console connection port on the CRX device and to the back of the serial console.
  5. Select Accept to save the displayed settings and return to the Settings menu.

Change Serial Console Settings

Once connected, it is required to verify or set the Units, Scale Factor, and Base Units options in the CRX Serial Console Configuration screen because these settings are not transferred to CRX from the serial console.

To change the settings of the serial console:

  1. Select Settings on the bottom left of the Home screen. The Settings Menu will open.
  2. Select Serial Console on the Settings menu. The following options are available:
  3. Set or verify the listed options to the operator's preference.
  4. Select Accept to save the displayed settings and return to the Settings menu.

Note:  If desired to monitor and map product control, the serial console must be added to the machine configuration. Refer to SCS or ISOBUS-Connected Item for additional information on adding a serial console to a machine configuration.
