Install Software Update with USB
Software updates can be downloaded on a computer and installed to the Raven field computer with a USB drive. If a software update has not been downloaded, refer to Download a Field Computer Software Update.
Note: Software updates can be downloaded directly to the field computer via Slingshot®. See Download an Update via Slingshot® for more information.
Install a CRX Update
To apply a software update to the CRX device:
- Insert the USB flash drive with the CRX update in the required folder into the CRX device.
- Once the update file is detected on the USB drive, select the desired update from the USB drop-down list then select Install.
- Select Eject USB to properly save the information on the USB stick so it can be removed.
Install a ROS Update
To apply a software update to the ROS device:
- Insert the USB flash drive with the ROS update in the required folder into the ROS device.

When an update is detected, press Install. The update will install. The Update Available status will be displayed in the upper, right corner of the main panel display and the update file will be copied to the ROS device.

Select the System Manager utility.

Select the Software Update tab.

Select the Install Update button to update the ROS version. The device will install the available update version and automatically restart.
Note: After the ROS device restarts, it is necessary to redetect GPS. To redetect GPS, perform the steps at Redetect a Serial Device.
View ROS Software Information
To view information regarding the ROS version currently installed or for a ROS updated available for the ROS device:
- Select the Administrator Panel icon in the top left corner of the display.

Select the System Manager utility.

Select the Software Update tab.
The following ROS version information will be available:
Current Version
ROS version used by the device during field or control system operations. This version information may be important if service or support is required.
Install Latest Update
If a newer ROS version is available, the updated version number will display. Select the install latest update button to install the version displayed onto the device. When the system is restarted, this will be the current version used for operation. If desired, select Delete and the update will not install.
Note: Updates can be performed if connected to a Slingshot® field hub. Refer to the Slingshot® Operation manual for additional information using slingshot to perform updates.
Undo Last Update
In the event that an update to ROS provides undesirable operation, the device will store the last software version installed and allow the operator to revert to the version displayed in this field.
Factory Reset
The factory reset feature may be used to revert the device to a factory condition.
Note: Only perform this procedure if instructed by a dealer or service technician. All settings and user files will be erased during the factory reset process. Perform file maintenance and copy all critical data to a USB flash drive prior to performing a factory reset.
Revert to Previous ROS Versions
To revert to a software version previously installed on the ROS device:

Select the System Manager utility.

Select the Revert to Previous Version button to reinstall the displayed ROS version. The device will reinstall the previous version and automatically restart.
